My Master Thesis addressed the Impact of HSDPA Implementation on UMTS Capacity and Cell Coverage. The goal of this thesis was to analyse how UMTS behaves when HSDPA is implemented. So, a theoretical model was developed calculating network capacity, for a sector of a cell, focusing on the analysis of parameters, such as number of served users, throughput, and cell radius. Two scenarios were assessed with different users’ distribution. With OPNET Modeler, Release 99 was assessed by increasing the number of users, and for two different scenarios that were distinguished by the weight assigned to each service.
